It can, in principle, be applied to any surface, as it is epoxy-based. Ideally, apply it directly to tiles or over a smooth screed, or any smooth surface, for a distinctive look and minimal material consumption. A primer can also be used beforehand; it is especially recommended for porous surfaces (any primer will work, as it blocks dust and increases adhesion).
